Documents: Docs vs Word vs Adobe Acrobat

Can Google Docs replace Microsoft Word?

For shared drafting, Docs belongs on the shortlist. Whether it can replace Word depends on your documents and required desktop workflows. Test your templates, formatting and file exchanges with clients before switching. The Document Creation ratings below compare category entries; the Workspace entry is not a separately isolated Docs score. Acrobat serves a different PDF workflow, so treat it as a possible addition rather than a like-for-like editor replacement.

Is Google Sheets the same as Excel?

No. They serve the same broad spreadsheet job, but they are different applications. Integrations with your stack

Which Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 integrations fit your stack?

Start with Jira, Slack, Zoom, HubSpot and Calendly. These connections bring project tracking, conversations, meetings, customer work and scheduling into your everyday apps.

Jira

How does Jira connect project tracking to spreadsheets?

Reviewers describe connecting Jira with documents, spreadsheets and reporting.

Google Workspace

Import Jira Cloud query results into Sheets with the Jira Cloud for Sheets add-on. Google administrators must allow the add-on.

Microsoft 365

Connect the Jira Cloud for Excel add-in to your Atlassian account and import issue data into a workbook.

Check before rollout: Treat these as reporting connections. Do not assume that editing a spreadsheet updates the original Jira issue.

Slack

How does Slack connect conversations to files?

Reviewers mention Slack alongside connected files, calendars and work notifications.

Google Workspace

Create, share and open Google Drive files from Slack. The files remain in Drive.

Microsoft 365

Create, share and view supported OneDrive and SharePoint cloud files from Slack.

Check before rollout: Check file permissions and decide which chat tool owns the conversation. The Microsoft connector excludes on-premises SharePoint.

Zoom Workplace

How does Zoom connect to your calendar?

Some reviewers value connecting Zoom with their existing collaboration tools.

Google Workspace

Schedule, join and manage Zoom meetings from Calendar and Gmail with the Workspace add-on.

Microsoft 365

Add Zoom meetings to Outlook calendar events with the web or desktop add-in.

Check before rollout: Check administrator installation and account permissions. The Outlook desktop add-in needs an Exchange account.

HubSpot Sales Hub

How does HubSpot connect email to customer records?

Reviewers mention linking Workspace with HubSpot to connect customer work and everyday communication.

Google Workspace

Connect an individual Gmail inbox to HubSpot to send and log email from the CRM.

Microsoft 365

Connect an individual Microsoft 365 Outlook inbox to HubSpot to send and log email from the CRM.

Check before rollout: Confirm personal email access permissions and the selected HubSpot seat. This connection does not support Microsoft 365 shared mailboxes or Gmail Advanced Protection.

Calendly

How does Calendly coordinate appointment booking?

Reviewers mention Calendly when describing calendar connections and appointment scheduling.

Google Workspace

Authorize Google Calendar, choose calendars to check for conflicts and select the calendar that receives new bookings.

Microsoft 365

Authorize an Office 365 or Outlook calendar, choose conflict-checking calendars and select a booking calendar.

Check before rollout: New events go to the chosen booking calendar, not every connected calendar. Calendar limits and team scheduling depend on the Calendly plan.

Migration and rollout

How do you migrate between Google Workspace and Microsoft 365?

Frequently asked questions about Google Workspace vs Microsoft 365

Should my company use Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace?

Both Standard plans list at $14 per user/month on an annual commitment. The Fall 2026 Overall Office Suites Grid gives Workspace higher ease-of-use (94% vs 91%) and setup ratings (93% vs 90%); Microsoft 365 has a slightly higher requirements rating (94% vs 93%). Start your pilot with Workspace if browser collaboration is central; start with Microsoft 365 if desktop Word, Excel and Outlook are requirements. Test your actual files before deciding. Starter includes Gemini in Gmail and the Gemini app; Standard expands Google’s app integrations. Microsoft’s baseline Copilot Chat differs from paid Microsoft 365 Copilot.

Microsoft 365 vs Google Workspace for a small business: Which is better?

Choose based on your actual files, administration needs and selected plan. Microsoft desktop Office starts at Standard; both business-plan families support up to 300 users. The inventory above distinguishes included tools from additional licenses.

Copilot vs Gemini: Which AI assistant is better for work?

The Fall 2026 AI Chatbots Grid shows equal ease-of-use ratings of 94% for Gemini and Microsoft 365 Copilot. This does not settle which assistant will work better on your tasks. Compare entitlements, data access and output quality in a pilot.

How do you migrate from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365?

Migrate in stages. Exchange migration covers eligible mail, calendars and contacts; Migration Manager supports Drive workloads. Rules and calendar exceptions need validation. Test and reconcile a batch before switching mail routing.

Is Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace more secure for a growing company?

This guide does not establish a security winner. Map your controls to Google Business Plus and Microsoft Business Premium, then validate configuration and licensing. Reviewer usability ratings do not measure security effectiveness.

Does the calculator show total cost of ownership?

It estimates licenses plus the annual extras and one-time rollout costs you enter. It is not a complete vendor quote: taxes, discounts, renewal changes and costs you leave out are excluded.

Will I lose my emails if I cancel Google Workspace?

You lose access to Workspace Gmail when you cancel. Google’s cancellation guidance warns that Workspace data will be deleted and cannot be restored. Export or migrate the mail you need, verify that it is accessible in the destination and test incoming mail before canceling. Follow the cancellation instructions for your subscription type; a Business subscription purchased with a personal Gmail address has a separate process.

How do you migrate from Microsoft 365 to Google Workspace?

Plan mail, calendar and file migration as separate workloads. Use the Google migration options described above for the relevant Microsoft services, then test identity mapping, permissions and representative records. Reconcile the pilot results before switching users and mail routing. Moving files does not automatically reproduce every Microsoft workflow.

Is Google Workspace cheaper than Microsoft 365?

Not at the Standard annual list prices used in this guide: both are $14 per user per month. The answer changes with the edition, payment commitment and additional services you need. Compare like-for-like proposals with the calculator, then add migration, training, storage and any separately licensed AI capabilities.

Research methodology

Grid ratings. Released Fall 2026 Overall G2 Grids, reconciled to warehouse report snapshots, provide category-specific scores for suite and standalone-tool comparisons. G2 scores combine satisfaction and market presence; ease, setup and fit are normalized ratings. Outside alternatives lead the checked category entries by overall G2 score, including the Numbers/WPS tie.

Reviewer themes. The sample contains 962 Workspace and 203 Microsoft 365 reviews. Active English reviews submitted October 29, 2025–October 28, 2026, with verified-current-user status and written feedback, form the review sample. Eligibility, review IDs and G2 User/Administrator roles were reconciled against the warehouse. AI reviewed complete like/dislike answers in context using the same rules for both compared products; positive themes use like-best answers and concerns use dislike answers. Each review counts once per theme; themes may overlap. Rates describe these review samples, not all customers. This is contextual AI classification, not independent human annotation. Buyer responsibilities are editorial applications of User or Administrator evidence, not department-specific review groups.

Pricing and features. First-party documentation informs app coverage, plan rights, integrations and migration. Pricing was rechecked November 3, 2026; feature and integration checks retain their recorded source dates. US annual list prices exclude tax and discounts; Microsoft uses Teams-included plans. The calculator adds any annual extras and one-time rollout costs you enter. Unentered costs are excluded. Entitlements vary by edition.

Buying guidance. Pilot questions and proposal handoffs are editorial guidance. Category scores do not establish feature equivalence, security effectiveness or which plan includes an app.

Category scope. Office Suites supplies the suite-level ratings. Individual workflows use their named category reports rather than substituting the Office Suites scores. Ease, setup and requirements percentages are normalized ratings, not percentages of reviewers who agree.

Integration priorities. The five examples draw on named connections in the established October 29, 2025–October 28, 2026 review sample and first-party documentation checked November 3, 2026. Comparisons, unrelated mentions and requests for future connections were excluded. Microsoft email and collaboration mentions are grouped under Microsoft 365; Gmail mentions under Workspace. Buyer relevance breaks ties. These are review-informed priorities, not an adoption or market-wide popularity ranking.
