At last count, I have fourteen – yes, fourteen – newsletters coming to my email inbox every single week.
I’m certainly not complaining – I love my newsletters. I’m sure many of you get them too. Maybe not fourteen, but you’ve likely signed up for a few newsletters, whether you read them or not.
Have you ever wondered where those newsletters may be coming from? Who compiles them? And how do they send them to all of those people?
Enter: the email marketing manager.
We all know that the majority of today’s business communication is done via email. It’s how we schedule pressing meetings, make company-wide announcements – sometimes, it’s even how we communicate with the person sitting right next to us.
However, it wasn’t always this way.
I know, can you imagine having to get up and walk across the office to talk to a colleague? Wild.
But it’s true! That said, email prevailed. And as it continued to gain popularity, marketers realized a massive opportunity. Why wouldn’t they? Email is an efficient and cost-effective way to communicate with a mass amount of people, all at once.
With that simple realization, the role of email marketing manager was born.
Your email marketing manager will (and this likely won’t come as a surprise) manage email marketing campaigns from end-to-end. This includes writing email copy, managing email campaigns, using email marketing software, building newsletters, and of course, hitting send. They’ll also work with your marketing analytics manager to determine the potential impact and return of what they send.
Your email marketing manager will be responsible for your end-to-end email marketing strategy, including writing email copy, managing your email database, designing email newsletters, and more. They'll work closely with both sales and marketing teams to identify a target audience and report on results of various email marketing campaigns.
