An Analysis: G2’s Best Software 2024 Winners

The G2 team here, myself included, has been busy celebrating our Best Software Award winners, ever since they were unveiled on February 6th. We’re still going, but I’d like to take a moment to reflect on some of the trends and data underneath all the hoopla.

This year’s awards feature 34 lists. Eight of those are at the company level, recognizing the best global software companies as well as those in particular regions. Seven are horizontal product lists – meaning they look at things like highest satisfaction, fastest-growth, or company segment (like software for enterprises). Then we have nine more product lists that hone in specifically on function — such as Best Security Products or Best HR Products, rolling up the thousands of categories on G2 that inform these functions.

The larger lists featured 100 winners, the smaller ones 25, and others somewhere in between. This means there were 1,865 slots in total available for 2024 Best Software Award winners. Yet just 0.6% of the G2-listed companies made this year’s lists – some achieving multiple inclusions among the rankings. 

If you consider yourself a B2B SaaS or data nerd like myself, read on to dive into a brief analysis of a few trends that stood out to me this year.

Now, let's look at 2024 vs. 2023. Which companies increased their appearances in the Best Software Awards by the most?

  • Microsoft: Increased by 23 occurrences (from 18 to 41)
  • Google: Increased by 20 occurrences (from 17 to 37)
  • Salesforce: Increased by 16 occurrences (from 14 to 30)
  • SAP: Increased by 12 occurrences (from 9 to 21)
  • Cisco: Increased by 10 occurrences (from 7 to 17)
  • ManageEngine: Increased by 7 occurrences (from 5 to 12)
  • BILL (previously Bill.com): Increased by 7 occurrences (from 0 to 7)
  • Culture Amp: Increased by 6 occurrences (from 1 to 7)
  • Birdeye: Increased by 6 occurrences (from 2 to 8)
  • SOCi: Increased by 6 occurrences (from 2 to 8)
