Battery Icon Missing in Windows 10? Two Ways to Add it Back

When it comes to technology, the easier our devices are to use, the better.

And there’s nothing worse than being taken off-guard when the battery in your PC is about to die. One way to make sure this doesn’t happen is to keep an eye on the battery icon in the Taskbar when using Windows 10. But what about if the battery icon is missing?

If the battery icon is missing from your Taskbar in Windows 10, it’s easy to add it back and can be done in two ways. Let’s break it down.

What to do when the battery icon is missing in Windows 10

No one likes having to scramble to plug in their PC before its battery dies. To avoid this from happening, make sure you know how to add the battery icon to your Taskbar when using Windows 10.

There are two options for adding the battery icon back into the taskbar, and it depends on if the battery icon is visible when clicking the up arrow. To find out which method you should follow, click the up arrow at the bottom of your Taskbar.

If you’re able to see the battery icon, like below, continue to option 1. If you don’t see the battery icon from the selection of hidden icons, go to option 2.

Option 1: If the battery icon in the Taskbar

First, right-click on your Taskbar and select Taskbar settings.

From Taskbar settings, scroll to the Notification area and click Select which icons appear on the taskbar.

Next, from the list of icons, make sure that Power is toggled on.

Once this is switched on, you’ll see the battery icon in the taskbar.

Option 2: If the battery icon is missing from the Taskbar

If the battery icon isn’t in the group of hidden icons when you select the up arrow, right-click on your Taskbar and select Taskbar settings.

From Taskbar settings, scroll to the Notification area and click Turn system icons on or off.

Scroll down and toggle on the Power switch.

The battery should now appear in your Taskbar. If not it may be hidden, but visible when you click the up-arrow. If so, follow the steps in option 1 to pin it to the Taskbar.

It’s good to be charged

But you won’t know how much time you have before your PC battery dies unless you’re able to see the battery icon. Pin it to your Taskbar to be sure you never find yourself in the red without a charger in sight again.
